I did it.

Yesterday after work I finally did something I've been talking about for over a year: I bought a new bike.  I am very excited to get outside and ride.  I think I'll head out the first day it's above 50.

What I've been doing

Before I begin blogging I need to take a minute and beg for money.  I'm doing the 801 Power Climb, which raises money for the American Lung Association. The money raised goes to smoking cessation programs, asthma programs, and all sorts of good stuff.  I need to raise $100 to participate, and would like you to think about donating.  If you click here you can help me reach my goal by donating.  Anything is appreciated.

I've been up to a lot lately, considering that it is the middle of winter.  I normally hibernate in the winter, but the few days above 50 got me out and about, enjoying Des Moines.

I went to see Slipknot a few weeks ago.  I'm not really into heavy metal, but it was fun.  It was also loud, and I couldn't understand their lyrics, so it made me feel really old.

Speaking of really old, I recently had a birthday.  I had class that night, but went out the next day to celebrate.  Angela and I took a half day to explore downtown Des Moines.  It was a lot of fun.  We were able to join some friends for happy hour.

If you're like me, you like to boil things alive for Valentine's Day.  OK, I don't really enjoy the boiling things alive part, so it's a good think Stimmel is brave enough to dunk a living thing into boiling water.  It was a little upsetting to watch something die, but then I got to dip it's flesh into butter, so I got over it pretty quickly.

It's been a pretty good winter, but I'm ready for spring.  I can't wait to get out and enjoy patios and trails again.
